The University of South Florida has picked Adidas to outfit its sports teams under an eight year deal, replacing Baltimore based Under Armour as the school’s footwear and athletic wear brandUSF Athletics said Under Armour rival Adidas, with a Portland, Ore., based North American headquarters, will supply uniforms and other apparel, footwear and accessories to all 19 varsity teamsUnder Armour reached its agreement with the university in 2008, which expires this year. The Baltimore sports apparel maker confirmed on Wednesday it will no longer supply the Bulls’ teams after this year”We are thrilled to be embarking on an exciting new partnership with one of the world’s most recognizable and innovative sports performance product companies,” Mark Harlan, USF director of athletics, said in the announcement Wednesday. “The Adidas brand is storied, iconic and respected worldwide,

and they continue to push game changing products forward with creativity and cutting edge technology.”

Under Armour and Adidas have long been locked in a fierce rivalry. The Baltimore brand overtook Adidas in 2014 in combined apparel and footwear sales to become the second biggest sports brand in the United States. Adidas took back the No. 2 brand spot last year, and this year has continued to steal market share from rivals, including Under Armour, as it turned its athletic shoes into fashion statementsOn the university front, Under Armour beat out Adidas in 2014 to partner with the University of Notre Dame and its athletic teams in a 10 year deal, reportedly worth more than $82 million and more than Adidas’ previous 10 year, $60 million deal with Notre Dame. Naval Academy and Auburn University and last year signed a 15 year, $280 million outfitting deal with UCLAAdidas’ deal with USF runs from next year through the 2025 2026 season. Under the agreement, Adidas also will supply the university’s spirit squads cheerleaders and Sun Dolls and the Herd of Thunder Marching Band. The university will be part of Adidas’ branding campaigns, with student athletes and coaches wearing products and gear. Adidas supplies more than 100 collegiate programs and has marketing agreements with the National Basketball Association, National Football League, Major League Baseball,

I study Town and Regional Planning, and came on exchange to Sheffield in my third year. I studied three courses or modules in Sheffield, including TRP331, TRP33 and TRP234. I found the course work to be really interesting, and it was a lot different to in Australia. TRP331 was my favourite module, as it was based on planning in the UK and our lecturer was excellent. I found the course work relatively less assessment based, but this means that assessments are generally weighted higher, so an assignment with usually be 50 80%, and I had an 100% exam. As easy as it is to forget you have much work to do, it is important to stay on top of things and do things early, so that you give yourself more time for the fun things! I found enrolment was really easy, and I also changed a subject while I was here (that I had already had approved by UQ), but it was so easy to change and didn cause any troubles.

While I was in Sheffield, I forged some really good friendships. I found that most of my English classmates were friendly and welcoming. I lived in self catered accommodation in Endcliffe Village in a building with other international students all staying for one semester. I roomed with all international students, so it was great to get to know other people from other countries and I even stayed with some on my travels over Christmas. One of the best things about England is that it is so close to everywhere, and so you can squeeze in quite a bit of travelling. I was fortunate enough to get to Wales,
ebay ugg boots University of Sheffield Semester 2
Scotland, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands in my 5 to 6 months in Sheffield. I had the most amazing time and even got some glimpses of snow which was a definite highlight.

Sheffield is filled with students, so there is rarely a boring moment. Whatever interests you, there is something to suit. The student union is one of the best, they organise great events, give it a go is a really great student union run program, so I would advise being involved in some of their events and trips. The lifestyle in England is in some ways similar to Australia, but the weather is very different so be prepared!

In terms of expenses, Sheffield is quite cheap for most things. The majority of spending for me came from buying food, and obviously from travel. Train travel in the UK is expensive, but you can buy a student railcard that gets discounts and if you book in advance the trains are a lot cheaper. For anyone coming to Sheffield and hoping to travel, get familiar with East Midlands Trains, Megabus,

and the Skyscanner website. My advice is save up as much as possible so you are not worried about money while here.

Credit union officials said the 58,000 square feet of office space in the building will become administrative offices for the credit union. None of its 7 branches will be closed.

“It an incredible building,” said Jeff Schillag, UMCU vice president of marketing and community relations. “It really did fit our space needs very well.”

The credit union originally had planned to consolidate its adminstrative staff into a new building possibly on land it owns behind its branch on Jackson Road but Schillag said the purchase price was less than the cost of new construction.

According to a notice sent to credit union members, “After a detailed cost analysis, the current real estate market allowed your credit union to purchase the former Ann Arbor News building for around half of what it would have cost to build with the same square footage. In addition, the downtown location provides UMCU with great visibility and allows us to maintain our close proximity to the University of Michigan.”

According to a statement from said Jeff Trapp, president and CEO: relocating our employees from leased properties and more effectively controlling our costs, we believe this purchase will be in our members best long term interest and will provide room for the credit union to grow.”

The building in downtown Ann Arbor located on the corner of South Division and East Huron Street had been vacant since the Ann Arbor News closed in July. The building was owned by the Herald Publishing Co.

The building came onto the market in October, with co l

“It’s a beautiful building and a flexible building,” Chaconas said this afternoon.

That flexibility will help the credit union make it into offices that will feel customized for them, he added.

The three story, Art Deco office also came with adjacent parking and a second parking lot with an entrance a block north on Ann Street. The estimated market value based on the total assessed value of the combined parcels and building was $10.6 million.

In addition to the office space in the building, a pressroom remains in the lower level.

Herald Publishing paid just short of $170,000 in property taxes on the building in 2009, according to city records. The credit union affiliated with U M but a separate, member owned non profit will pay property taxes.

Chaconas said three potential buyers emerged as serious contenders for the property. In addition to the credit union, one was a company looking to move downtown and the third was an Oakland County development team.

“It’s nice to see the building stay locally owned,” Chaconas said.

Co listing broker Mike Giraud of Collier’s represented the credit union in the deal.

The credit union has over 46,000 members and its net income was $1,852,573 in 2009, according to Schillag. It has about 130 employees, according to IRS filings. We also currently are one of the few remaining banks in Ann Arbor still lending new money. We are one of only a few local owned and locally managed banks. When you are our depositor, your funds go to work in our community. I sure UofM CU would love your business,

too. And kudos to UofM CU on their acquisition we hope it works out wonderfully for you! As a advocate of historic preservation, I think it wonderful that this Kahn building will be preserved.

Historic buildings don always have a bigger energy footprint than new buildings. The reason? They tend to be built with high quality building materials. My 80 year old high school in the South had foot thick stone walls and windows that opened. We didn have air conditioning and didn need it. Also, UMCU primary customer audience is downtown or nearby. The News building is within walking distance of campus and the Medical Center and close to the AATA bus station, used by many UM employees and students.

It surprising that a prime downtown building with 2 parking lots is 1/2 the price of a new building. not comparing similar construction/renovation expenses; like the cost of removing giant printing presses). Also, won the overhead (maintenance, energy, maybe taxes) of an old downtown building be more than a new suburban one over the next 20 40 years?

Congrats to UM Credit Union for your winning bid. One thing that bothers myself is that there has been no mention in this article or from any of the contributors, that the Ann Arbor News building (1936) is a significant architectural contribution of the famed Albert Kahn. This is the same man who designed Angel Hall (1924), Hill Auditorium (1913), Burton Tower (1935), Delta Upsilon (1903) fraternity (being renovated after a recent gutting fire) 1331 Hill St., not to mention several notable private family homes in the area. Other notable Kahn designs in the Michigan area are Pacard Motor Car Co. Assembly Plant(1907), Ford Motor Co Highland Park Plant (1909), Ford Motor Co. massive Rouge River Plant (1917), as well as taking a large part in helping to complete the World War II Willow Run B 24 Boomer Plant and the Detroit Arsenal Tank Plant. I hope that there are some provisions in the sales agreement that maintain the importance of keeping, at least, the outer appearance of this building somewhat original. To some it may seem like just another concrete and glass building. If you look close you will see the classic gothic columns and a wonderful polished marble base. Change is inevitable, just keep it within reason.

Sad to see this building go, and I doubt the CU will be interested in finding a way to clean up and showcase the old press, which would be a cool way to honor the building legacy. We can only hope. The company name is Ann Arbor Offset, and it is still owned by Advance Publications. The presses have been in operation since the fall of 2001, and there are around 50(?) employees there, many of whom used to be Ann Arbor News employees.

“This law will impact thousands of lives across the state and it’s built on a lie that the more people carrying guns, the safer we are,” said Brendan Kelly, spokesman for the Brady Campaign and Center to Prevent Gun Violence. “It’s a myth that was designed to do one thing, sell more guns not inform public safety policy. Every single day, Americans buy into this myth, purchasing a gun because they believed it would keep them safe. Yet every day, lives are shattered because many of those same guns are involved in suicides, accidental shootings and crimes of passion.”

Among the rules of Kansas’ new gun law:

Guns are not allowed at large athletic events, such as basketball and football games, where added security such as metal detectors will be in place. They’re not allowed at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
